Modifying Your Topic
You will continue to revise your topic and corresponding research question or thesis throughout the research process, as you learn more about the topic. These factors may influence your need to modify your topic:
- Too little information (your topic is too narrow)
- Too much information (your topic is too broad)
- New issues surface while you are researching
A good topic should be broad enough so that you can find information, yet focused enough that it fits within the assignment guidelines and your time frame.
