Objectivity
When determining if information reflects a point of view or bias, ask yourself these questions:
- Is the information factual or is it an interpretation of facts?
- Can information found in one source be verified in other places?
- Does the publisher represent a religious, political, lobby or other interest group?
- Are there any stereotypes, assumptions or strong opinions?
- Do advertisements influence the content (especially on the Web)?
- Are various points of view, theories, techniques or schools of thought represented equally?
