The Wrong Information

1. Check the coverage of the databases you're using. Do they cover the kinds of material you need? The right subject area(s) or discipline(s)? The right kinds of documents? The right dates?

2. Try going to "Find" section in the UF Libraries' Web site.

If you are trying to find... Select
Books, ebooks, encyclopedias, reference books Books
Articles in magazines, journals, newspapers Databases
Books, articles, etc. by subject area Subject Guides & Specialists
Web sites Internet Reference Sources

3. Explore the "Subject Guides & Specialists" on the UF Libraries Web site. The subject guides are written by librarians who are experts in the subject area, and list the best databases, reference books, journals and Internet sources. Try a few of these and see where you can find your subject. Then try using some of the databases you find linked there.

4. Another way to find databases that cover a hard to find topic is to use the Research Gateway. Remember that the Research Gateway is a metasearch engine that can search multiple databases at one time. Set the Research Gateway to “Find article” and enter your search terms. Connect to the database that shows the most results.
