When Should I Cite?

Cite a source when:

  • Using another person’s idea or concept
  • Quoting another person’s exact words
  • Paraphrasing another person’s words
  • Referring to another person’s work

You need not cite a source when referring to or talking about dates, events and facts that are commonly known.
