How to Cite

Sources must be cited:

  • In the text of your paper to point out ideas, concepts or words that are not your own.
    • Use footnotes, endnotes or parenthetical references to point out the sources to the reader
  • At the end of your paper, in a list of documents or other information sources for the reader to consult
    • You can include a Bibliography, a list of Works Cited or a list of References.

1. a list of books or documents on a particular subject or by a particular author. 3. a list of the books referred to in a scholarly work. A bibliography differs from a list of “references” or “works cited” in that you may list every work you consulted, even if you did not cite it in the paper.

works cited
noun
an alphabetized list of works cited, which appears at the end of your research paper, gives publication information for each of the sources you have cited in the paper. Also called “references” depending upon the style guide being used.
