Nesting
Nesting is a search technique where you use parenthesis to group related keywords, so that the database search engine processes your search correctly. Use nesting in complex searches featuring numerous keywords, synonyms and logical operators. Here are some examples of nested search queries:
((stem cell) or cloning) and research and (ethic* or moral*)
This search will find any article about stem cell research or cloning that touches upon the ethics or morality of research in this area.
(teen* or adoles*) and advertising and (tobacco or smok* or cigar*)
This comprehensive search will find documents that touch upon tobacco ad campaigns that target young people.
