Consider the following elements of database coverage:

What kinds of documents?
Journals, magazines, newspapers, books, book chapters, dissertations, statistics, government publications, reviews, Web pages, software applications?

Which disciplines?
Sociology, music, chemistry, horticulture, multidisciplinary?

What time periods?
The past year, 1960-1998?

When was the last update?
How often is the database updated: hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, annually?

What languages?
English only? French, Arabic, other languages?

Which publication types?
Scholarly? Popular? Trade? All three? Others?

What is included in for each document or item?
Whole articles or chapters in full text? Brief descriptions of the documents (bibliographic citations)? Abstracts or summaries of the document? Publisher and title?
